I had waited for someone to care. Yet Jesus was there, and he cared. I believe that most people at least one time in their life look for and wait for others to truly care. Sometimes we are blessed with those who care, but other times it feels as if no one cares. Jesus always cared. Jesus always cares. Jesus is God in the flesh, God’s son, and the word that was with God from the beginning, and was God per the books of John and 1 John. When people care life is good, but what about when they don’t care? Jesus always cares, and he’s always cared. We were not made on accident, as a matter of fact we are considered the most valuable creations in existence. I was not an accident and you were not an accident. Jesus had your name on his heart when he hung on the cross. The bible tells us that it was for the joy that was set before him that he endured the cross and its shame. It was because of the shame you endured, so that someone could literally say that he has been there. You were never alone. You are still not alone. There is always hope as long as today is called today, and it is when we have come to the end of hope in this life that we are in a position to truly gain life. Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of God. It was for the lost, the sinner, the sick, the poor, the fatherless, the rejected, the hated, the proud, the caring, the mother, brother, lover it was for us all that Jesus came to this earth, that his Father, our creator sent him to stand in the gap and become sin, to become shame, to become sick, to become rejected, and afflicted and poor, to be bruised so that we will know that someone cared, and has been there. When Jesus cared, he really cared. He didn’t just say it with a smile and vain promises to always be there, no he showed it that when no one knew the meaning of it, he by faith died for you and me. He cared. Look at the Father who created us. Behold the creator of this world and all life. He is loving. He is kind. He willingly gave up his son and at the same time his life because he cared. He is still there, he still cares. You are not alone. Thank you Jesus for Saving the world, that all who would believe on you and call upon you can have their names written in your book of life.
So many thoughts cross my mind that I would prefer not be there. I waste so much time focusing on things that I ought not to. God loves us so much that he has literally stepped into our homes (no matter how messy or unlovely they are), and has come down to reason with us on our level (even though we are as dumb as sheep), and made a home with us who seek him in truth. This is Love! So even when my mind strays and I have thoughts I wish I hadn’t, and I focus on cares I shouldn’t, and with every mistake I make- God has me covered! Psalms 91:1 explains to us that those who dwell in the shelter of the most high, will rest in the shadow of the almighty. He’s got you covered! You can rest! Have peace! For his love shelters me and makes me complete. I have no want for anything (Psalm 23:1) for the Lord is my Shepherd! He’s got you covered, hallelujah you are so good to us God. Thank you for loving me, my Savior and my Lord! My prince of peace. I will surely sing of your love forever for your love in unending.
I have an issue with questioning who my future husband will be. I inspect many people who come across my path. I have always been husband focused. I hate this. It is a desire that never meets satisfaction. I believe that everything will work out for my good, even the minor, more pesky challenges that I face. Even this issue I keep having. I believe that God uses this need within me to help me understand that he is my husband. No, I don’t believe it is wrong to remarry and I know I will marry again, but this time I have a new purpose, and that is to please Jesus and have true contentment. Not a life of my own making, but rather of his choosing. As I keep asking, “who is my husband”, I am reminded of the way God showed my heart to me today and revealed to me that he is working on my behalf about diverse things. Then I am once again reminded that God is my husband. What does it mean to call God my husband? It means that he watches out for me. He is faithful to me and is thinking about me. He understands me like no one else can understand me, and he is for me and not against me. He is the best listener. He is the most loyal friend. He is there even when I don’t deserve it. He cherishes me and tells me how much he adores me. He gives me gifts. He is Sovereign and reveals to me that he is in control and that I have to only trust him and obey. God is so Sovereign, when I look upon this I have a deeper need within me met that wants to be submissive. I want to let him lead me. I want to be cared for and loved. I don’t want to be mistreated. God is truly my husband, and I can enjoy this union with him even better than if I was married to a carnal man. Lord, help me forget about this need or put it in its proper place. Amen.
Romans 8:14 KJV “For as many are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God”
As we mature in our faith with God, then we leave the black and white of following religious laws, and we start following the leading of God instead. Those who are led by God are the Sons (and daughters) of God. We are also told that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17). That means that the law of life in Christ sets us free from the law of the sin of death. This means that we are in a relationship with God now, and that he is the rule maker, not the law. This means that he breaths life and meaning to the law, and we walk according to what he says rather than the law without the Spirit. This does not by any means mean that we can live in lawlessness, but it means that we are not confined by the law. How can that be? The mystery that we are told in the bible, the same place where religious law resides, is that following God leads to a fulfillment of the law (Matthew 5:17). However, following the law does NOT lead to a relationship with God. Am I lying? The bible itself tells us that (Romans 3:20, Galatians 3:11). This means that I am free to do all things, though not all things are beneficial (1 Corinthians 10:23), therefore if a person explains to me that they are free according to their faith to indulge in certain activities that are not highly looked upon by the church, I don’t judge them, and neither should you! Why? Because a person’s salvation truly is between them and God, and we are told this in Romans 8:33. Those who want to point out that they have a right to judge the church always leave out all the scriptures that warn against judging God’s servants, which far out number those that give them privilege to bring charge against God’s Saints. The reason why we should be so cautious when it comes to judging another believer is that true Godly judgement requires a genuinely pure heart. Many who judge are bitter, critical, and are not truly speaking in a heart of love and so they judge incorrectly in pride and are setting themselves up for judgment as well. A true Son of God is led by the Spirit of God, not the law, rather they become a living epistle of the law. Hallelujah! In order for a person to have assurance that they are a true son of God, they must truly seek him and also obey him according to the faith they have been given so that on judgment day they won’t be among the deceived who may be told to depart from God because he never knew them in truth.
Today I am reflecting on how we are to think of ourselves with sober judgement. We all feel special to some extent, because we are. How can we not be when we were made in God’s image? We are made to reflect God’s glory. Yet, sometimes we only focus on our attributes rather than the bigger picture which is, how the world might view us. As I consider the world’s view of myself, or rather how someone who isn’t biased might view me, I realize that without the vision of God, I look like an ordinary average person. I see my weaknesses and my flaws. I can see the difference between my ideal of myself, and what I am in reality. The truth is that only God can make this unappealing earthen vessel into his master piece.
Also, I realize that only God can help me overcome my every day to day obstacles, the Lord knows I have not been able to do this myself. Only God can justify me. Only God can defend me. Even now it comes to knowledge that all those who would think to form a plot against me, or think evil of me, God is there interceding for me as we speak. Only God knows me as I hope to be, only God is able to truly believe in me. Each person is unique. Each person is without hope, and only God can redeem them. Each person needs God’s mercy, the mercy that only God can provide.
Only God stays near me, even when I fail. I fail all of the time. Only God can love me, even when I am unlovable. Only God can uphold me, and my purpose is for him. Without him I would had already committed suicide years ago, even if I didn’t die, I would be dead already on the inside without him. He truly is the only good being in this life. No, there are good people, lovable, caring souls but no one is perfect, even Jesus said only God is truly good. There just isn’t any purpose in this life, and only God is the reason why I find myself. I was created to know him. I was created to praise him. I was not ever able to be satisfied by anything in this life, except for God. Only God.
This might be a shocker statement to some religious folks out there. Surely someone wouldn’t make assumptions about what I mean without first reading what I have to say. We are told that we now have a righteousness apart from the law, and that is faith in God through Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21). What this means for me is that God is my confidant, if I have a problem or concern about anything I can go to him about it, and he also justifies me. He made the law. Why go to the law when looking for the truth? The written law is in black and white and without personality, it does not think, it is merely words with an open and shut case. It will never be able to mold or bend to allow for your weakness. It is not able to think for you. It does not have feelings for you. God, on the other hand has feelings. If you had an issue with being able to keep a law, like if you had a debt you owed, and you weren’t able to pay it, and you were able to go to the judge who issued the law in the first place, without fear because he was a loving and merciful man, wouldn’t you rather do it, or just let the law judge you? This is the beauty of being able to approach the throne of grace, is that unlike the written law, the one who sits on the throne, the law maker is able to adjust it for you, or show you how to fulfill it with added grace. God is not out to punish us. He is not a tyrant. He wants us to approach him. He wants us to fulfill the law in spirit and in truth, not for the sake of the cold, unfeeling words of the law, but rather for the sake of truth and righteousness. Therefore, it is not the law that I bow my knee to, but it is only God who I serve. The law is a boundary keeper. The law is a wall set along the path of righteousness to keep us on the right path, but the law is not in charge, rather God is. How sad to think that so many christian, myself included, have believed that the law itself was God. That the law which is unforgiving and relentless would be our final judge, when this whole time they were given provision to enter into God’s throne room of grace to help them along the way, the maker of the law. When a person is struggling at their job, for whatever reason, maybe they are having personal problems at home, would they need to fear if they were best friends with an understanding boss who is patient and merciful? Some Christians see that being chummy with the boss and taking advantage of that privilege is simply just not holy, and they set up their own laws and walls for others to follow, but to what advantage? This is still an attempt to find justification outside of the sacrifice of Jesus’s life, all else is rubbish and should be counted as loss. Just admit it, you are not ever going to truly measure up. Only daddy can lead the way. Only he can justify. God is God.
Isaiah 45:2 KJV
“I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron”
Many people associate prospering with having stable finances, or with having loved ones all around them. Though these things can be called prosperity, they are not the same thing as soul prospering. A soul may prosper whether the person is rich or poor. A soul may prosper whether they are loved by many or alone. Soul prospering has nothing to do with our circumstances, or what we have or not have. Though every human being would love to have these types of prosperity, it was not lasting. If your soul prospers based on what is happening around you, then what happens to your soul if circumstances change? Abraham was promised many descendants, yet before he had died he only had two living sons. Yet, he still prospered. Soul prospering comes from the inside out and is based on faith. It is rooted in what God says about you, and what he promises you. Your circumstances can look bleak while someone who isn’t Godly seems to have much prosperity, but as I mentioned, circumstances can change. Even if they never change, one can still have soul prosperity. When a person’s soul prospers, then they have no fear, and they have much joy and peace. It is God’s will that we all prosper, even as our soul prospers. The only way to gain true soul prosperity is to be connected to God, and then the life blood of Jesus flows through our veins giving prosperity to everything. It assures you that you are accepted, loved, and adored. It assures you that God cares about every single thing that concerns you and that he is for you and not against you. It takes all your insecurities away. It changes us from the inside out, where we are free to be ourselves. We can now be naked and unashamed. God wipes all of our tears away. We are known, we are celebrated, and we know without a shadow of a doubt that that will never change. We have a future, and we have a hope, even if it is only for eternity where we will never endure sadness again. Thank you Lord for soul prosperity. Thank you Jesus for dying so that we can live.
Psalm 16:9 “Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure”
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them all”
This is the Lord’s personal promise to me in this season of my life. He has quickened it to my heart more than once, and then I’ve read it many times in different places. When I begin to fret about a problem, old or new, I recall this promise. Then I rest again. It only takes a tiny bit of faith to move mountains. It only takes the word of God given to you personally to build your faith. When he says that he will deliver me from everything, I mean he will deliver me from everything. His presence comes upon me and shows me the fine details I get caught up thinking about, and he says to me, “I am going to deliver you from all that concerns you”. How glorious is that promise! How consuming is the delivering fire of the Lord. I am reminded once again, he is going to deliver me from all my cares. Think of a single care, and this is what he said he will deliver you from. Anything that brings an ounce of interest to my mind, he will deliver me from that and make it right. My finances, you are going to deliver me from all my troubles, my home needs, you are going to deliver me from all my troubles, my children and family, you will deliver me from my troubles. My enemies, you will deliver me from all my troubles. Everything that has been done wrong, you will make all things right. All things within my thinking and my feeling, you will deliver me from these things. My relationships, you will deliver me from all my troubles. All the things that are not right without me, you will deliver me from all my troubles. All the things I don’t like in my life, you care and you will deliver me from all these troubles. All those who stand against us, you will deliver me from all my troubles. You see me, and you care about me. You care about everything that concerns me. You see me as beautiful, you have loved me with an all enduing love. You have been faithful to me. Surely goodness, and mercy, will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Hallelujah. You and I are one.
The only thing that is ever needed is God’s approval. It doesn’t matter what others say. It doesn’t matter what the news says. It doesn’t matter what circumstances say. It doesn’t matter what the statistics say. It doesn’t matter what our weaknesses say. Only one thing is needed, and that is what God has to say. To leave the limitations of our own human understanding, no matter how advanced that understanding has become, is to really soar in realms above. To follow God’s voice is to soar on wings like eagles above the storm, God’s spirit is the eye of the storm, and his word is the air beneath our wings that let’s us soar above every earthly force that seeks to pull us down and distort the truth. No man or woman will ever trump the voice and knowledge of God. Those who are led by the Spirit are his sons. Only on thing is needed. God’s approval. Think of Simon Peter who tried to tell God what was clean, and that he would not touch what God now told him was clean. Who created the clean and the unclean? Who made everything? Who made the law? Who allowed the storm? Who made the universe, only to rest on the 7th day and call it good? He gives, and he can take away. Do we now look to the created over the one who created it? God speaks into existence. God can change it. Only one thing is needed. That is to hear one word from God and have his approval. God, I love your voice. I love the presence of your spirit. When you speak, I want to stop and listen so I can hear it. What will you say now? You have said to me, “be still, and know that I am God”. Whom shall I fear? Who’s judgement shall stand ? Who is he who condemns? It is God who’s judgement will stand. I have been favored and loved though I didn’t do anything to deserve it. I have been called, chosen, justified, and now glorified as you see fit. You have done this. You truly are my bridegroom. No one trumps you. No one is stronger than you. No one knows me and protects me like you do. Who can best my God? No one will ever come close, my glorious King. I long for you. Praise to the God who stays. Praise to the one who made me. Thank You!
Set a fire in every person’s soul. Burn away the chaff, expose the lies, show us who you are so that we will see you in Spirit and in Truth. Show us your love. Show us your face. Let your truth burn deep within our souls. Set my heart on fire. I want all that is not of you to burn away. Heal my hurts, bind up my wounds. Make what is old pass away, that I will come from the fire brand new. I want to be who you made me to be. Consume my heart and my life Lord. Let only your will be what is left. Cause my entire life to be worship to you. Let everything within me glorify you always, my husband, my King, My God. Come Holy Fire. Thank you loving God. Amen.
