Being Still

Lately as I go about my day, getting ready to take on a task that I had planned for God’s glory, he is telling me to be still.  “But God, this is important”, I find my mind, independent of myself telling him.  He says, “if I told you to be still, then who is going to come against you or what harm will occur if you are still”.  “Oh, yeah that’s a great point”, I think to myself.  Why do we as Christians take on so many tasks in order to fulfill God’s given project, yet leave out God?  Who are we doing it for anyways?  If God tells me to move, then I can pray for his strength and grace to move if my flesh resists and by his power I can get it done.  Yet, being still seems so unproductive, yet if God says to be still, then he knows best, so we should be still.  I have not perfected this art of being still, but by his grace I am getting more experienced at stopping what I was about to start doing, and rest in stillness instead.  Thank you Lord for the gift of stillness that you have led me to.  Thank you for not forsaking me when I do fail to be still.  Please help me learn how to be still even more.  Some of the tasks we engage ourselves in are not really  as beneficial as we think they will be.  Some tasks are still an attempt to be near God.  Yet the only thing that has proven to truly draw us so close to God is to seek him in prayer with an earnest heart, and to have faith.

Through life's challenges I have learned that Jesus really is the only one who can truly satisfy. Through his grace I have already achieved so much, and wish to include you all in my journey as I continue to press on towards the mark to which I was called. I hope that you can identify and share in my successes and even my failures. It is also my hope that you will see what a day in the life of a spirit filled believer looks like up close and personal. May you be blessed as I am blessed, and may you share in my anointed grace. God bless you as you read.

  1. Wonderfully written, the world spins at an alarming rate and it is easy to get caught up in the hype. Being still and listening to God is so very important. I struggle with this as well. One thing I have started to do is still in the stillness of my living room, light some candles and just sit, it relaxes me and it also helps my writing process. You’re doing great, be still and know that God is always with you.
